The Rad Story Behind A “Raad” Story
My husband and I are soon-to-be be parents of 4 – which means we we will be parents of 4 children all 4 years old and younger. We will be parents of 3 under 3 again and 2 under 2 thrice! We welcomed our firstborn son, Caleb Beau, in July 2016 – only a year after our wedding and welcomed our princess, Olivia Joy, in November 2017 and finally welcomed our newest addition – Darla River on February 2019. We reside in sunny South Florida but I’m originally from Brooklyn, NY. After becoming pregnant with my first baby, like most women, I was scared of not just becoming a mother but also what toll pregnancy would take on my body because of the overload of information I found on the internet and pretty much everywhere I looked: TV, movies, books, etc. Mostly everything out there is NEGATIVE. There’s no wonder why most people do not want to become parents any time soon.
Suddenly, 3 things changed my perspective: My faith, my mom, and a book called “Supernatural Childbirth” by Jackie Mize.
- This may sound cliche, but the truth is: with God, all things are possible and He does not give us more than what we can bear. Through my faith I’ve learned to always speak words of life, wisdom, and love and I’ve understood the power in our words.
- While I was in my first trimester of pregnancy, I had nausea and vomiting. I remember complaining about it to my mom and she looked at me and said these words that would forever impact me. She said, “Instead of complaining, look at the bright side. There is a baby growing inside of you and every time you may feel nauseous, it means that your pregnancy hormones are increasing and the baby keeps growing and growing, so why not give God thanks and soon you’ll feel better!” She definitely sparked something in me and from then on, I knew that I would never view pregnancy in a negative light.
- I am eternally grateful to a friend of mine who recommended the book, “Supernatural Childbirth”. Through this inspiration book, I learned to write down exactly how I wanted my pregnancy and delivery to go and through faith and daily prayer almost everything came true. I have never felt painful contractions throughout none of my pregnancies, thanks to the teachings in this book.
