Buy myself flowers

Flowers beautify any home which is why I love to buy flowers for my home. I buy them often and place them in different areas in my house. “The presence of flowers triggers happy emotions, heightens feelings of life satisfaction and affects social behavior in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed.” according to The Society of American Florists. No wonder everyone loves to receive flowers! Don’t wait to receive them; simply buy them and make your day brighter. If you want an extra boost of joy, gift a mom friend flowers too!

Dance with my kiddos

Dancing is fun and generally people dance when they are happy or during moments of celebration. If you’re from Latin descent, dancing is part of our culture. In my grandma’s house there was always food and dancing. My mom loves for us to dance on her birthday or special holidays and these cherished moments are memorable! Make it a goal to dance with your kids at least once a week. Turn on the music and have a dance party in your home just with your child(ren). They will enjoy it while burning energy too! We have a 30 minute dance party at least once a week – currently my kids are learning some salsa moves with us at home and they love it! This is a brilliant way to connect with your child(ren) regardless of how young or old they are.

Write down 5 qualities I possess as a supermom

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you point out the negative or do you toot your own horn? Moms tend to constantly encourage their loved ones and give their best in their role as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, etc. yet oftentimes put themselves last and are their worst critics. You fill your child’s love tank with your nurturing words and likewise, you must give yourself the grace you willingly share with others as opposed to being self-reproachful. No one can be a better mom to your child(ren) than YOU, which is why you were chosen to be their mother. Change your self perspective by highlighting the qualities that you possess every morning. Today, write down 5 qualities you possess as a supermom by listing, “I am _____” and so forth.

Post a photo of a mom I admire

Expressing gratitude or words of admiration to individuals who have impacted your life one way or another is not just a sweet gesture but also advantageous. According to Harvard Health Publishing, “Writing thank-you notes is not just good manners. It can have a strong psychological effect for both the sender and receiver.” How? By producing positive feelings for both: those expressing it and those receiving it. Say kind words and show your gratitude to those who have motivated you throughout your motherhood journey. Why wait until their birthday? Think of a mom you admire – perhaps it’s your own mother, or another mom that has influenced and encouraged you. Post a photo of her on social media and publicly express words of gratitude. Or send a text or call conveying what she means to you. You will make her day while feeling great also.

Take at least 10 minutes to workout

Whatever we do to our body, will have some kind of effect if not now, then a few years down the road. We will reap what we sow to our bodies. Our food intake is paramount but working out is essential. Exercising has numerous benefits not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. As a busy mom, it may be difficult to make time to exercise, however there are various 10 minute power exercises you can do. According to WholeLifeChallenge.com, “By exercising for 10 minutes with intensity and effort, you’ll be more likely to give your body what it needs to keep adapting, building muscle, and increasing your capacity.” Start by taking 10 minutes a day to workout either at home or outside. Then, add 5 more minutes as the weeks go by. You will feel a great difference in your energy, mood, and productivity.
