Read to/with my child(ren)
The younger the child, the more they long to spend quality time with their parents. As they are well into their teenage years, they may get busy with school and friends, but it’s still important to seek meaningful moments with your son or daughter. Reading together can help improve the parent/child relationship and it is an activity that can be done as early as the newborn stage, because although babies are unable to speak yet, they are constantly developing language skills. It can become a part of your routine with your child regardless of their age. Pick a book and read it to them (if they are learning how to read) or have them read it aloud if they are able to. We read bible stories daily and now that my son is older, he reads them aloud to us and his younger sisters. This is a time that they cherish and it only takes about 20-30 mins. It can be interactive and they can ask questions regarding the story. When we finish reading, each child leads a prayer of gratitude. These moments positively mark them as they will become adults who appreciate reading. As the phrase says, “Reading is Fundamental!”
Day 18 Verse "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." - Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NKJV
