Get dolled up just because!

Now more than ever, femininity must be restored. God made women inherently different and one characteristic we possess is beauty. Your outward appearance is a reflection of your inner self and oftentimes, it’s easy to point out an overwhelmed, stressed mom. Throughout all of my postpartum seasons, I remember making an effort to doll myself up, which meant showering daily in the morning and getting out of my pajamas no matter how tired I was. This automatically triggered my mental and emotional mood throughout the day and helped me maintain a positive outlook. From time to time, I would put on my favorite dress and wear makeup even if I stayed home all day. I continue with this mindset and it helps me feel beautiful and confident about my day.

Tiempo de Apreciacion: Decirles a mis hijos lo que significan para mi

Es importante expresar verbalmente nuestro amor y aprecio hacia nuestro(s) hijo(s) para que sepan cómo nos sentimos. Los niños en particular necesitan llenar diariamente su tanque de amor con palabras de afirmación. Aunque podemos mostrarles con nuestras acciones, como abrazos y atención, es igualmente importante expresar nuestro afecto a través de palabras. Impartimos valor, aceptación, carácter y podemos formar sus creencias, comportamiento y, primordialmente, el estima y auto-imagen – todo al expresarles palabras de afirmación. Trata de implementar este desafío diariamente y veras el efecto positivo que tendrá sobre tu(s) hijo(s).

Appreciation Time: Tell my child(ren) what they mean to me

Verbally expressing our love and appreciation is important because others will know how we feel. Children in particular need to fill their love tank with words of affirmation daily. Although we may show them with our actions, such as hugging and attention, it is equally important to express our affection via words. We impart value, acceptance, character, and can shape their beliefs, behavior, and ultimately their esteem and self-image – all by expressing words of affirmation to them. Try to implement this challenge daily and see the positive effect it will have on your child(ren).

Create a Gratitude Jar

A Gratitude Jar is a jar full of (daily or weekly) “Thank you” notes. The idea is to write down on a sticky note what you are grateful to God for – in other words, something that has happened that specific day or week and you want to highlight it and are grateful that it happened etc. This can be done weekly or even daily. Gratitude changes our attitude! We created our jar on January 1st of this year and have filled it out together with the kids every other night. This is something they look forward to doing and it teaches them to be grateful for even the ordinary days. It also teaches us that everyday, there is always something to be thankful for!

At the end of the year, open the jar and read about all the great reasons you and your family were grateful in 2023.

Crear un Tarro de Gratitud (Gratitude Jar)

Un “Tarro de Gratitud” es un tarro lleno de notas de agradecimiento (diarias o semanales). La idea es escribir en una nota adhesiva por lo que estás agradecido con Dios, en otras palabras, algo que sucedió ese día o semana específico y quieres resaltarlo y estás agradecido de que haya sucedido, etc. Esto se puede hacer semanalmente o incluso diariamente. ¡La gratitud cambia nuestra actitud! En mi hogar, empezamos nuestro frasco el 1 de enero de este año y lo llenamos junto con los niños casi todas las noches. Esto es algo que mis niños se emocionan de hacer y les enseña a estar agradecidos por las cosas pequeñas, incluyendo los días ordinarios. ¡También nos enseña que todos los días, siempre hay algo por lo que estar agradecido!

Al final del año, abre el frasco y lee sobre todas las grandes razones por las que tu y tu familia estuvieron agradecidos en 2023.
